FAQ
CARESTEER questions parents ask.
How does CARESTEER work?
It runs in four steps: test, occupations, India routes, degrees and streams. The test gives a RIASEC personality type. That type is matched to 3–6 O*NET occupations, and each occupation is tied to an indicative Indian route that names the stream, degree and exams that usually come first.
When does the report say to ask a counsellor?
A job card carries an Ask a counsellor chip in two cases: there is no Indian route for that job, or the door is real but this year’s subjects cannot sit it. Ask a counsellor, too, about colleges, fees, a subject fight at home, exam dates and pay. The report does not name those.
How much does it cost, and when do we pay?
The report costs ₹599, once. You pay after the student submits the test, not before. There is nothing to pay to create a login or start.
How long does the test take?
About 25 minutes. It has nine short sections of statements, rankings, point splits and pictures. There are no marks and no right answers.
Can the student stop and finish later?
Yes. Answers save as the student goes. Log back in and the test picks up from the same section.
My child is under 18. What do we need?
A parent agrees to the test and gives a parent email address. The report can then be emailed to that parent as well. The test is for students aged 14–18.
What is RIASEC?
RIASEC stands for six personality types described by John Holland: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional. A student’s result is a three-letter code, such as A I S. The code can change as a student gets older.
What is O*NET?
O*NET is a public database of occupations run by the US Department of Labor. CARESTEER uses it for job titles and descriptions. Because O*NET describes work in the United States, the Indian routes in the report are hints.
Is the report a diagnosis?
No. The report describes work a student tends to like. It is not a diagnosis or an admission prediction. A medical question goes to a qualified professional.
Who receives the report?
A PDF is emailed to the student. If you add them, a parent and the school counsellor receive a copy too.
Does the report pick a stream or a college?
No. It notes the streams, degrees and exams that often sit behind each occupation. Colleges, cut-offs and fees are not in the report, and the family decides.
Do exams like JEE or NEET appear in the report?
Yes, as hints. JEE, NEET, CA, NDA, NIFT and UPSC appear where they usually sit on a route, and some come after a bachelor’s degree. They are not predictions of results.
